Just been to my grandmothers house in the countryside beyond Workington. It's next to a field and below a hill with a bridge over the top.
Anyway, day of the flood, the entire field was flooded and the water went up to the road next to the field (not the bridge, that would have been one hell of a flood).
Although the ground is still rather soggy, the field looks like a beach now, stuff has been swept in like sand and tiny pebbles , and one unlucky recycling bin

Back in Workington, the footbridge that got swept away is going to be the first to be rebuilt.

And also, there is a small memorial on the christmas tree for Bill Parker in the centre of town
